Transportation, Oil & Gas Training Track

The training track is designed to assist residents who reside in Stark County obtain occupational skills through short-term training and support with employment linkage to careers connected to high growth jobs in the areas of plastic pipe jointing and commercial driving license (CDL) Class A endorsements.

  • Median earning potential for individuals who pursue careers in the areas of plastic pipe jointing and CDL is $45,000 annually.
  • Student-Learners will have the opportunity to pursue training in the spring and summer of 2019.

  • Income is at 125% or below the federal poverty guidelines
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings in the forms of criminal background investigation and drug test.
  • Active job seeker committed to completing the desired training as means to obtain employment.

Information and Technology Training Track

The training program is designed to assist residents who reside in Stark County obtain occupational skills through short-term training and support with employment linkage to careers connected to high growth jobs in the areas of troubleshooting, customer service, networking, system administration, security, and operating systems.

  • Training is facilitated by an experienced IT professional through utilization of Grow with Google course curriculum.
  • Median earning potential for individuals who pursue careers in the field of IT is $52,000.
  • Student learners will have the opportunity to earn a Google IT Support Professional Certificate.

Hospitality and Customer Service Track

The hospitality and customer programs are designed to assist residents of Stark County obtain occupational skills through short-term training and support with employment linkage to careers connected to jobs focused in the areas of banking, food services, retail, office and administrative services.

  • Training will be facilitated by SCCAA’s Career Mentor, in partnership with local representatives from the hospitality and tourism industry.
  • Median earning potential for individuals who pursue careers in the field of customer service and hospitality is $35,000.
  • Student- learners interested with careers focused in the areas of food management will have the opportunity to obtain ServSafe Certifications.
  • Student learners interested in pursuing careers as a customer support specialist will have the opportunity to earn an industry recognized credential known as the Telephone Doctor Certification.

Hospitality and Customer Service Track
Miro-Enterprise (Entrepreneur Development)

Micro-Enterprise (Entrepreneur Development) 

The Micro-Enterprise program is designed to assist residents of Stark County to work in partnership with SCCAA and entrepreneur leaders to obtain training and technical assistance to initiate the first phase of small business development, which include activities such as creation of a business plan, establishing a legal entity, conducting market feasibility research, developing financial projections and a marketing strategy plan.

  • Funding will be utilized to assist program participants realize their dream of becoming an entrepreneur by providing them resources to support obtainment of training, supplies, first month rent for commercial space, licenses and permits at the state, county and local levels.

Summer Youth Employment

Summer Youth Employment Program 

Each summer, SCCAA provides work opportunities for motivated young adults between the ages of 16-18 to work for the Summer Youth Employment Program.  

Eligible youth must meet SCCAA income guidelines. Students are provided with an opportunity to work at neighborhood job sites with community organizations and agency programs. During the summer, young adults are taught employ-ability skills and are encouraged to pursue a post-secondary education.

In addition to career planning and work experience, students interact with one another and professional youth mentor coaches who assist them in addressing issues related to peer relationships, family, motivation and values.
