Due to the accelerating outbreak of the coronavirus and based recommendations from Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health, we have made some adjustments to our day to day operations. Beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020, SCCAA staff have been instructed to work from home whenever possible.

The Stark County Community Action Agency and the Ohio Development Services Agency are working to help Stark County residents in need stay warm this winter through the Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program. This program helps income-eligible Stark County households pay their heating bills and can assist with fuel tank placement, fuel tank testing and furnace repair.

The program runs from November 1, 2019 until March 31, 2020 and assists households whose utilities have been disconnected (or have a pending disconnection notice), need to establish new service, need to pay to transfer service, or have 25% (or less) of bulk fuel supply remaining to stay warm this winter.

Households must have a gross income at or below 175% of the federal poverty guidelines to qualify for assistance. Annual income for a household of four must be at or below $45,062.50.

In order to receive assistance, all households must have a face-to-face appointment at Stark County Community Action Agency. Appointments can be scheduled by calling our toll-free IVR appointment line @ 330.617.1055 or online at https://capappointments.com. Households can also start their application process prior to their face-to-face appointment online at www.energyhelp.ohio.gov however face-to-face appointments are still required in order to complete Winter Crisis applications.

To provide additional access to the program, households can utilize our:

• Walk-In hotline @ 330.617.1054 on Thursdays and Fridays of each week between 7am and 11am to receive a Walk-In timeslot on that same day between 10am and 4:30pm. All Walk-Ins will be assisted at our satellite office located at 3220 Cleveland Avenue NW, Canton, OH 44709

• Winter Crisis Super Saturday Assistance events scheduled for Saturday, November 23, December 14, January 11, February 8 and 22 and March 14 and 28.
